Striving to Live Longer I found out in 2008 that I have diabetes, just 5 weeks after my Mom died from it. It's Type 2, so I manage it with medicine, exercise, and diet. It's not fun but it's made me way more conscious of my health and the wish to live longer than the 68 years my Mom had. That's WAY too young to die! I am hoping that someone here can be a mentor and an example for me to follow without being a slave-driver, perfectionist, thinking I am going to turn into a hard core, athletic, vegan because in all honesty, I don't see myself ever choosing to be that hard core!
