mesenchymal chondrosarcoma I was dx in July of 09 with a rare, agressive form of Bone cancer called Mesenchymal Chondrosarcoma and it affects the cartlidge surrounding the bones. I took 4 months of intensive chemo...that is when I lost all my hair. I was very sick for the 4 months and was in the hospital on 3 different occasions getting blood transfusions because my red blood cells were so low I was having a hard time breathing. In November of 09 the Dr.s decided to stop chemo and do surgery because the Chemo was not working to decrease the Tumor. So I had December to get my rbc and wbc counts back up before Surgery in Jan....so on Jan 6 I had my surgery at Mayo Speciality Clinic in Pheonix and everything went great. They were able to complete resect the tumor getting negitive margins all the way around. Of course they are worried because they were only able to get small margins of 2mm and they say that margins that small scare them. I also have a spot in my lung that they strongly suspect is cancer because of how it reacted to the chemo treatments, but they have not done a biopsy yet because it is small and showing no sign of growth in scans. So for the moment I am Stable...which is fantastic. Im working on trying to get on State Insurance so I can get down to MD Anderson for radiation treatment.
I am otherwise as healthy as a horse. By looking at me you would never know that I have Cancer..had Cancer..whatever..lol...other than my hiar that is.
All my life I have had long silky straight blonde hair, and now it is a ash blonde color and in tight curls. My hair is probably about 1 1/2-2" rt now and you cant tell it because it is so curly just glad I have hair bk myself and I look at it as a way to re express my self.
